Update Icons Directly from Visual Studio
The Visual Studio add-in removes the friction between solution resources and icon editing. It is especially useful for maintenance-heavy Windows desktop products where developers own the last-mile asset changes.
Practical workflow
- Install the supported Visual Studio plug-in for the project environment you still use.
- Open the solution asset from Visual Studio.
- Edit the icon in IconWorkshop and save it.
- Let Visual Studio refresh the updated file inside the solution.
The product page currently describes the historical plug-ins for Visual Studio 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2012, so use this workflow mainly for legacy or maintenance contexts unless you have already validated newer integrations in-house.
